How do you configure Big IMAP on Microsoft Outlook Express?
Step-by-step instructions:
- If you are opening Outlook Express for the first time, the "Internet Connection Wizard" will initialize automatically after you select whether you would like Outlook Express to serve as your default mail client. Otherwise, select "Tools / Accounts" and click "Add >" a "mail..." account
- Under Your Name, type the name you would like to have displayed on your emails and click "Next"
- Under Internet E-mail address, type in your email address as it appears in the account you created and click "Next"
- Under E-mail Server Names, select "IMAP" in the drop-down box.
- In the box titled "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:" type w2a.bigimap.com
- In the box titled "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:" type w2a.bigimap.com and click "Next"
- Under Internet Mail Logon, type your account name as username@domain.com, for example, "sarahuser@bigimap.com" and type in your password. If you wish for Outlook Express to remember your password, click the checkbox. Click "Next"
- On the Congratulations page, click "Finish"
- If you have previously installed email software, the next page may ask if you would like to import messages and address book from the other software. If you like, import them, or click "Do not import" and then click "Next"
- When you have finished importing, or have chosen not to import, click "Finish"
- This should cause Outlook Express connect to the bigimap.com server and download all folders that are present, opening a dialogue that allows you to show or hide folders in Outlook Express. Click "OK" and then click the "Inbox" under "w2a.bigimap.com" to view your Inbox. You can test your account by sending an email to your own address, and selecting "send/receive."
