Big IMAP Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy. We agree not to monitor, edit or give to anyone else any personal information about you, or about how you use your email. We also agree not to read your email, or give your email to anyone else.

There are times when we might have to reveal information about you, or give others access to your email. These are rare and usually involve subpoenas. Here are the only reasons we would reveal your information:

  • because a new law was issued, or your records have been subpoenad by a bona fide legal process;
  • if it is necessary to defend our rights or property;
  • if we need to in order to enforce our terms of service;
  • in order to protect you, our other customers, or some other important group of people.

Most importantly, we will never give any personal information about you or any information about the content of your email to any marketing firms, data collectors, professional researchers, students writing a thesis, or anyone else, unless we are legally required to. We may give someone aggregate information, such as, we have 60 users from Canada, or, we sent out 7,345 messages last week. That sort of information, we feel, does not invade the privacy of our individual customers.

One last thing you should know is that your Internet Protocol address is transmitted with each message sent from your account. That would be true for any email provider.
